English

English
Language is the medium by which a person communicates his thoughts and feelings to another person. It is important to have a language that everyone knows.  English is now the most widely used language in the world. It is most commonly spoken as second language. English is in the Germanic group of language and West Germanic is considered to be the ancestor of English. English was derived from the word “Englisc” which was the language of the “Angels” or the “Engle” during the Anglo-Saxon period.
English is well on its way to becoming the dominant global language in the world. English can be considered as the unifying language in the world. English is also hugely important language as a global language and plays an important part in development of the countries.
English is one of the most spoken languages of the world. It has become the language of science, commerce, trade and international negotiations. It is understood and spoken by more than half the population of the world. If we want to remain in touch with the outside world, we will have to retain English. English is widespread largely due to the fact that it is used so heavily in television, film and music. Even in our country we have more English language are spoken more than our national language. It's gotten to the point where almost in any part of the world to be educated means to know English. Today English is incredibly wide-spread and it is constantly expanding. The main reason for this, in my opinion, is because of the media. Though our country is small we have more English news paper than Dzongkha which is our national language. Even the television shows are more in English than Spanish or French. The world two largest country also has more people speaking in English than there national language. English is the means of communication between different countries.
It's important to have a language that the people of the earth have in common. Our world has become very global and we need to communicate with one another. There are more than 200 countries in the world. If everyone could speak English, they may have the ability to communicate with others whenever they are in other countries. If English had not been wide spread, different countries would not have made deals and signed treaties as a result countries would never have became friends and wars could be still seen. There may be more native speakers of Chinese, Spanish or Hindi, but it is English they speak when they talk across cultures, and English they teach their children to help them become citizens of the world.

English is a global language because it seems that now and in the future, English will continue to belong to everyone therefore perhaps it maintain its position as the global dominant language throughout the 21st century and beyond. English language has proved its dominance all around the world and with more technologies and means of communications coming up today. For example internet which is the means of communication of the future more and more people will communicate in English, it is safe to say that it will continue to dominate the world for many future generations.
